Answering a question of Agol I will build a non-hyperbolic open 3-manifold M that is locally hyperbolic and its fundamental group has no divisible subgroup. We will use this example to illustrate a result on hyperbolization for a particular class of open 3-manifolds with infinitely generated fundamental group.
