Karen Vogtmann is currently a professor of mathematics at the University of Warwick, working in topology and geometric group theory. Until 2016 she was the Goldwin Smith Professor of Mathematics at Cornell University, and has held visiting research positions at several institutes, including MSRI, IAS, IHES, the Newton Institute and the Mittag-Leffler Institute. Among her awards and honors are a 2006 invited address at the Madrid ICM, a plenary address at the European Congress, a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award, a Humboldt Prize, a Clay Senior Scholar award, and the Polya Prize of the LMS. She has done extensive professional service both nationally and internationally, including serving as a trustee and as vice president of the American Mathematical Society |
