Personal Profile of Dr. Sergey Fomin

Biography

Sergey Fomin received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from St. Petersburg State University in Russia. He worked at MIT in 1992-99, thereafter moving to University of Michigan, where he holds the Robert M. Thrall Collegiate Chair in Mathematics. His research focuses on algebraic combinatorics and its applications in other areas of mathematics.

Sergey serves as one of the main editors at the Journal of the AMS, and was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Hyderabad in 2010.
