Biography

Born in 1970 in Manchester (UK), Christopher Hacon studied mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa and the University of Pisa where he received his bachelor degree in mathematics in 1992 and at UCLA where he received his doctorate in mathematics in 1998.

He has taught at the University of Utah and the University of California Riverside. He is currently a distinguished professor at the University of Utah.

Christopher is a recipient of the Sloan Research Fellowship (2003), the AMS Centennial Fellowship (2006), the Clay Research Award (2007), the Frank Nelson Cole Prize in Algebra (2009), the Antonio Feltrinelli Prize in Mathematics, Mechanics and Applications (2011), and the Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics (2017). His main research interest is Birational Algebraic Geometry.
